Your Attitude is a Magnet

In the past few weeks, I've been on the quest to know more about how my attitude can influence my life and everything around it. What I came up with has been quite amazing. Coming to terms with the fact that my attitude is my choice and not a by-product of my environment or what people say about me, is empowering me to live life with full consciousness and intent. A particular discovery that struck me is what I am about to share with you; your attitude is a magnet: it attracts or repels. I am sure you would be interested to know the things your attitude is capable of attracting or repelling. Follow me on this quest.

1. Your attitude attracts others of similar mindset.
What many of us do not know is that most of our close associates were attracted to us because of our attitudes. If you are a very joyful, always happy kind of person, you are likely to attract people of similar attitude. However, if you are the always bitter or angry type, be sure the people you would have around you are people that would fuel this nature and attitude of yours. Have you been around people who are always bitter? Always angry at everything and nothing in particular? Do you feel like staying a minute longer around them?

2. Your attitude attracts people's decision to honour and serve you.
Have you met people who though they are much older than you, yet lack good attitude? Do you feel a sense of respect towards them in anway? No! I don't feel any need to respect people with this kind of attitude. And if I do, its just for the sake of it. It doesn't come naturally! Naturally, humans attracted to serving others with a good attitude. It is almost as simple as that!

3. Your attitude can take you where your gifts and talents won't!
If you are a fan of the Xfactor America show, you are likely to have seen one of my favourites of the show - ASTRO the other day. Despite his originality and natural talent, his wrong attitude (of arrogance like that of a brat) almost got him off the show. I am of the opinion that if he continues with that attitude, he'd have a lot of struggles making it to the top. You may be better than others at something but you need character to retain that position!

4. Your attitude attracts loses or gains in any venture.
Ask a salesperson, he/she will tell you how important one's attitude is to clinching a deal. You may be good at marketing the product to the buyer but your character may be a yardstick to the eventual sale of the product; consequently, your gain or loss. You can win a friend through your attitude just as much as you can lose a valuable person in your life.

I'd stop here now and continue later in the part II with a few more points. Remember, your attitude is a magnet. The goodnews is, you have a choice over the attitude you exude!

Thanks for reading.

  1. I totally agree with you. And especially that the choice depends on us on which attitude to display. Sometimes when things are tough, it's hard to maintain a positive attitude but it can be done. One thing that helps me is listening to positive words, either from the bible or from music.

  2. You're very right.  Attitude is something that one might think is only active in your subconscious, but what you've said throws new light on this, i.e. you can CHOOSE your attitude.  # 3 particularly reminds me of something I have heard time and time again, especially with respect to pastors and other men/women of God - anointing is no substitute for character.  The same applies to talented people, like you rightly pointed out.  A person's attitude can really affect the way people react to or treat that person.  Thanks for sharing!

  3. ...Hmmm... "my attitude is my choice and not a by-product of my environment or what people say about me" That's very insightful.

"Your attitude is a magnet: it attracts or repels" - SO TRUE! #1 explains why I keep coming over here to read your blog :-) #2 is a subtle reality

Waiting for the Part II, thanks for sharing :-)

    True talk!

I think attitude is a thing of the mind: "As a man thinketh in his heart so he is" - Bible...

I also think the reverse is true: As a man wants to be so he should think. One's attitude can therefore be changed by changing his/ her mindset

  10. I tell you... one may have the anointing and all the talent in the world but what sustains the talent and anointing and keeps one from being a disgrace is character and attitude. Some said, "your attitude will determnie your altittude" In other words, your attitude will determine how high you will go in life... isnt that true? Thanks Sis :)

  11. Oh, I tell you ma... nothing helps one's attitude more than the things we take in. Gabbage in, gabbage out! Music is for sure a weapon in this subject. Thank you ma.

While I agree with you for the most part I do have areas in which I depart in like thinking. Mainly that even with a positive attitude one will experience losses, negativity will rise up to choke and challenge you and one's environment does in fact impacts one attitude, outlook, very countenance. Yes a great attitude can take you a long way however It takes more than attitude to keep ones head above water, to keep the "am gonna get it right frame of mind fresh and renewing," it takes an enduring spirit, it takes a contrite heart, it takes humility, most importantly it takes God in, out and throughout because even the best of us, in the best of circumstances can be beaten out of our "attitude" if we are not careful and ever vigilant to arm ourselves with the Spirit of the All Mighty and learn the ways in which to manoeuvre in this life that we were blessedly given.

Thanks for sharing; as usual it is ever evocative

  19. Rhapsody, thanks Sis. Once again I appreciate you. I feel though that we are saying the same thing in that.. quoting you... "it takes an enduring spirit, it takes a contrite heart, it takes humility, most importantly it takes God in, out and throughout". This is a function of attitude. An enduring spirit, contrite heart, humility, are all attitudes we can choose to exude. The bible talked about Daniel that in the face of competition, he was preferred above all because an excellent spirit (excellent attitude) was found in him. So if I get you right, I will say, we need an excellent attitude all the way.
    Thanks Sis.

  25. On point! It's one of our greatest assets. Every gift and talent is just a major waste without a good attitude to complement it.
