I DARE YOU!

Posted by on 30 July 2010

Everyday I wonder if there's more. I beckoned to my imagination on what could possibly be beyond our little Island. I grew up here. I am used to this place. I am acquainted to having these mountains as all around - the look more like boundaries. Never had I tried to see beyond them or fathom what could be over on the other side. The sun seem to shine brighter on that side beyond the mountains. When its dark and gloomy here, rays of light always reflect from the other side. Why can't I move past these mountains? How can I go on the other side?

This post is for those of us who need to push beyond our limits; those of us that yarn for something more; those of us with a longing go a mile more. There is danger in settling within our limits. Those who continue doing ordinary things are likely to remain ordinary till their last days on this planet. Extraordinary achievements are for those who are tired of being limited by their boundaries; those who would stop at nothing until they turn their setbacks into setups for breakthroughs.

Limitations of life could come in different ways. Some people are limited by their pedigree; they just don't believe its their portion to break into the elites of their society. They won't even apply to some schools or for some jobs they've classified as 'elite schools' because they believe they'd never make it in. I, for one believe its a good thing to learn the art of pushing beyond limits and boundaries that our societies, peers, teachers, parents have set for us. You were never born to be ordinary, neither were you wired to live a 'normal' life. You were born to push beyond the limits. I'd tell you why I know this for sure.

Your mother's womb was a boundary. It was a limit you just had to get out of to breakthrough into life. You came out with full force. Yes, I know you came with a lot of pain. Your mum didn't find the labour room experience easy but you had to be allowed into the world. Breaking boundaries; pushing beyond limits might be very painful, I know, but if you must fulfill purpose in life and be who you were born to be, you'd have to take your eyes of the pains because in the pain is where you'd have your gain.

Today,
I DARE YOU - Apply to that school (for that course) you think is not meant for people of your social strata.
I DARE YOU - Apply for that job you think you perhaps need more qualification than you currently have.
I DARE YOU - Embark on that project you deem unfit to carry out.
I DARE YOU - Talk to that sister/brother you like and you've always relegated yourself against anytime you're together.
I DARE YOU - Push beyond your limits! Surge beyond your boundaries. You can do it. Yes, you can!

  3. push on! don't let stepping stones be your limits.

  4. If one should allow stepping stones be one's limit, one will remain backward for life. lol

  9. I likeeeeeky! I am on that dare too! If we don't have the sense that where we are is too small, increase will not come.
I am daring myself to go the extra mile. I think of it like - those that we read off in the Bible - David, Esther, Joseph, Mordecai, Moses and the rest - went an extra mile! If they were to write a bible or history books for this generation, I want to be mentioned too - as having done great exploits, as a woman who went the extra mile!!! God bless u for this post...have a great weekend.

  12. I totally consign! No man or woman in the scripture achieved their mention by just been ordinary. They did something worth mentioning - they went beyond their limits. They pushed beyond their boundaries. I desire that too. Should there be another bible written about this generation, I would like to be mentioned as someone fulfilling purpose in destiny.

Remi, thank you. You've blessed me even more.

  15. Yes I can! No boundaries, man. I like how you likened our pushing through boundaries as pushing out of our mothers' wombs. It is not easy, especially as the path between limitations and boundlessness is usually narrow.

  16. Yes You can Suzanne. For everyone of us to be alive, it means we one way or the other survived that initial boundary of the womb. That means we can overcome even more barriers. We can push through even tougher limits if only we'd not limit ourselves. Thanks

Wow. This is great. Once again, u are an inspiration.See, the interesting thing is that no one determines our limit except us. One man said, there is no mountain any where except our ignorance.Until one pushes, all things stand still. Ultimately, it is the individual. This got to me and i have learnt greatly.Im gonna break through some barriers going forward.Thank you.

  18. I love that aspect of what you said, "until one pushes, all things stand still" - when there is no action, there won't be a reaction. Its as simple as that. Bishop, you have been a blessing once again. Thanks dear.

  22. I especially liked the part on the sources of limitations in life. That is why there is need for renewal of the mind.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hmmm.. if our mind is renewed, our life becomes anew. No wonder the bible remarked about the renewing of our mind, "...changing from glory to glory.." Wow! Thanks Rita. Another revelation there.

  27. I dare me too....right now I'm just at that point where i need to connect with just the right person...I've met some people but it didn't work out just well, i know this has been a discouragement and caused me to slack a bit, but this post dares me let the adrenaline pumping once again...

  28. This time Sis, it'd work out well and discouragements will disappear. Extra is the addition that makes the ordinary extraordinary. Go all out Sis and you will not be confounded.

  38. So even though I was one of the first to read....I'm just commenting.

"Breaking boundaries; pushing beyond limits might be very painful, I know, but.....,you'd have to take your eyes of the pains because in the pain is where you'd have your gain."

That got to me...because sometimes, staying within the comfort zone or area where we're familiar seems like the best thing to do. But the truth is if we don't step out, we cannot step up.

I dare me!!! There's so much I need to step up to now. Thanks for sharing....may your ink never dry up..*smile

  39. For the confrontational boundaries, a simple (but unwavering) decision to be free might suffice. The more dangerous situation is being trapped in subtle boundaries. Those require genuine wisdom to detect!

As you aptly pointed out, whatever the case, we were not born to be limited!!!

    Great work.

  40. Good challenge eh. Life only happens to those who choose to break boundaries. hmm true say.
